Overview

The Naltar and Hunza Valley Tour is a captivating immersion into the awe-inspiring beauty and rich cultural heritage of northern Pakistan. This tour begins in Islamabad and ventures along two of Pakistan’s most iconic routes: the legendary Karakoram Highway, often called the eighth wonder of the world due to its remarkable engineering, or the equally scenic Naran-Gilgit road via the lofty Babusar Pass. En route, travelers are treated to panoramic vistas of the mighty Himalayan and Karakoram ranges, picturesque river valleys, and vibrant mountain settlements such as Chilas and Gilgit.

One of the early highlights is Naltar Valley, a hidden gem just an hour’s drive from Gilgit. Renowned for its dense pine forests, colorful alpine lakes, and winter ski slopes, Naltar offers a peaceful retreat into nature’s lap. The Bashkiri Lakes, famous for their surreal blue and green hues, reflect the untouched wilderness of the region. Far from the crowds, Naltar remains refreshingly unspoiled, making it perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and photographers seeking tranquility amid dramatic landscapes.

Continuing onward, the route unfolds into the majestic Hunza Valley—one of the crown jewels of Pakistan. With its snow-draped peaks, lush orchards, and historical landmarks, Hunza is a place where nature and culture blend seamlessly. The valley is home to ancient forts such as Altit and Baltit, which offer glimpses into Hunza’s storied past. Towering above are iconic peaks like Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar, and Lady Finger, while the Eagle’s Nest viewpoint provides unforgettable panoramas of the entire valley.

Karimabad, the cultural heart of Hunza, is a charming mountain town where modern comforts coexist with centuries-old traditions. From here, travelers venture further to marvel at the turquoise waters of Attabad Lake, the historic village of Gulmit, and the striking glacier-covered peaks of Passu. The journey culminates at Khunjerab Pass, the world’s highest paved international border crossing, offering dramatic views and a deep sense of adventure.

The Naltar & Hunza Valley Tour offers not just a scenic journey, but an intimate exploration of mountain life, culture, and the unmatched splendor of northern Pakistan.
