K-6 & K-7 Trek

While travelling from Skardu town, at 140 kms east, Hushe is the last human settlement where the jeep road concludes and genuine adventure begins. The trailhead leads to three major routes including K6/K7 itself, Gondogoro La & peak, and to the Mashabrum Peak BC. The path to K6/K7, however, follows the north side of the Charakusa River. Saitcho is the major campsite from where the routes to major points branch out. Not far but interesting route to the base camp of K6/K7 is accessible at one overnight stay at Spangser from Saitcho campsite. The walk is easy with slight altitude again of about 600 m each day at an average of 4-5 hrs daily walk. The region between Spangsar and K6/K7 BC is truly a climbers’ paradise with several peaks and massive granite rock walls offering themselves for thrilling climbs. It was first climbed in 1984 by a Japanese expedition.
