|Cholistan Desert Camel Safari
Locally known as “Rohi”, the Cholistan Desert, located about 30 kms from Bahawalpur, is a vast stretch of barren land covering an area of 26,300 km2 bordering Thar Desert in Sindh which extends to India. The term Cholistan is derived from a Turkic word “Cho” which literally means desert where people live a semi-nomadic life moving from place to place with their livestock in search of food and water for themselves and animals. Lifestyle of the people of Cholistan is quite interesting. Isolated from the outside influence the culturally rich and self-subsistent people of Cholistan are very good at arts and crafts including textiles, camel products, leather work, and jewelry.
